Frequently Asked Questions

What does my registration fee include?

Access to all Keynote presentations, paper sessions, and special events as noted; a printed Congress program; and a USB drive of the Congress Proceedings. You may register for one of seven tours for an additional cost.

Are meals included in my conference registration?

Coffee breaks and receptions, listed on the program page, are included with each conference registration.  Other meals and accommodations are not included with your conference registration fee.

Will I receive a confirmation of my registration?

An email confirmation will be sent to you when you register online through the Wild Apricot system. If a confirmation email does not appear in your inbox within 24 hours of registering, please check your junk mail and spam folders.

For registrations paid by check, please allow two weeks for processing. Confirmation of your registration will be sent to you via email or regular mail upon processing. Your registration cannot be confirmed until full payment has been received and processed.

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Melanie Feerst at +1-847-894-3589 or [email protected].

Why should I register in advance?

If you register before March 31st, you will be able to take advantage of the early registration fee. Registration fees increase on April 1, 2015. Registering in advance also helps us determine how many will be attending the Congress.

When can I register for tours?

Tours will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis, so registering early is recommended. Register for the tour of your choice when you register for the conference. We suggest you register as early as possible to reserve a spot on your preferred tour(s) as many of them have limited space. If space is still available on a tour once the Congress opens, you will be able to register at the Registration Desk as late as Friday morning, June 5th.

I am one of the speakers. Do I have to register for the Congress and do I get a discounted registration?

Everyone who attends the conference must register. There are no exceptions and no speaker discounts.

* I am attending the Congress from out of town. Why do I only get a $50 discount if I register at the Palmer House Hotel?

The 5th International Congress on Construction History has made every effort to keep costs at a minimum to provide affordable registration fees. The Congress has signed a commitment to the host hotel that a specified number of rooms will be occupied by our attendees. In exchange for the hotel room occupation, the hotel provides the Congress with complimentary meeting space. Unfilled rooms can cost the Congress organizers thousands of dollars, so please support the Congress and register at the Palmer House Hotel. Just imagine – no commuting time to congress sessions, no searching for cabs during rush hour in the rain (when cabs are nowhere to be found), and more time to network and enjoy Chicago from a convenient downtown location!

** I live in the Chicagoland area and will commute to the conference. Why do I get a $50 discount?

The 5th International Congress is meeting in the United States for the first time. We encourage local architects, engineers, contractors, preservationists, and academics to attend the Congress, and offer the $50 discount to local attendees.

Do you offer a One Day registration?

Single Day registration is available on-site only and may be purchased for same day registration during open hours at the Registration Desk. A single-day ticket includes a dated conference badge and access to all paper sessions and Keynote addresses for that day. Day Rate registration is not available for Friday June 5 (Tour day). You must be registered for the 5th International Congress on Construction History to participate in our tours.

Will the Congress be accessible?

The 5th International Congress on Construction History is committed to providing universal access to all of our events. Please contact Melanie Feerst at +1-847-894-3589 or email [email protected] with as much notice as possible with your accessibility requirements.
