The 5th International Congress on Construction History will take place from Wednesday, June 3rd through Sunday, June 7th. The conference will be held on the sixth floor of the Palmer House Hilton Hotel, which will allow delegates to participate in concurrent paper sessions. Five keynote speakers will discuss current topics in construction history, and concurrent paper sessions will be take place each day. Friday is reserved for tours highlighting historic construction techniques, builders, and exemplary architectural and engineering works in the Chicago area.

A panel presentation highlighting Chicago’s multigenerational construction companies, their business evolution and changing construction practices. Marvin Levine will present his research detailing famous and not-so-famous Chicago builders, contractors and subcontractors, and will reveal their formula for longevity. A panel discussion moderated by Mary Brush of Brush Architects will follow Marvin’s presentation. The panel will include Fred Berglund of Berglund Construction and Martin Ozinga IV of Ozinga Concrete, who will discuss the construction industry in Chicago today. Sponsored by the Builders Association (AGC) and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
